How can we deal with problems that arise in our lives? As a pastor, one of the first things I would say is to look to God's word for direction. That might seem like something that all pastors would tell you so they wouldn't have to deal with your problem. In reality, God's word does indeed hold the answers to our problems. How many of us do go to the Bible for direction?
First, we have to decide what we are looking for. Are we looking for answers to the problem, or are we looking for guidance to get through the problem? You may not think this is important, but it really is. Sometimes you will only get answers to the problem when you go through the problem. We cannot use God as the easy way out of something we can only effectively learn through Him. Being guided through an issue is a whole other thing. The Holy Spirit will give us direction and discernment to navigate the concern and come through it with important lessons that contribute to our growth as Christians.
Maybe the solution to the problem is not as important as going through it.
"God, how do I make this problem stop?" Or, "God how can I get that person to forgive me?" God may or may not answer these questions, but not answering the question doesn't mean He is not going to be with you through it all.
I will leave you with one scripture (of many) that will help you approach your difficulty God's way: "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God". Jas 1:19-20 NKJV
Approach life calmly. Always listen, but take a long pause before you speak. Consider the situation and pray. Ask God for guidance and direction. And whatever you do, do not be driven by anger.
